Ceramic Cup - Brown Patterns

$ 18.00

Product Details

These small cups are called soba choko, a vessel made specifically for dipping sauce for cold soba noodle. However, their simple shape allows them to be used for much more than the dipping sauce. They can be for small servings of tea, coffee or other drinks, dips, condiments, nuts, or anything that you think fit.

The line motif is called tokusa, a vertical narrow stripe pattern that derived from a thin, bamboo-like plant, and is frequently used to decorate Japanese pottery. Hand painted lines and splash patterns look freewheeling and rustic at the same time, and give these simple cups a distinct character.
